Real Madrid and Manchester United are keen on signing 24-year-old Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Wilfred Ndidi could be the next high-profile sale made by Leicester City. The 24-year-old Nigerian midfielder is the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, with PSG also interested in signing him.

Ndidi has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Leicester City from Genk in January 2017. The Nigerian international, in no time, ended up being the much-sought replacement for N’Golo Kante, and has cemented his place as a key figure for the Foxes.

Till date, Ndidi has raked in 171 appearances for Leicester, even chipping in with 9 goals and 10 assists. His progress has unsurprisingly piqued the interest of a number of big clubs across Europe, chief among which are Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Real Madrid have, for years now, been struggling to find a player who can share the burden of the holding midfield duties with Casemiro. At the same time, with Luka Modric entering the twilight of his career and Toni Kroos also in his thirties, it is imperative for the Merengues to bolster their midfield arsenal. To that end, Ndidi is a viable target for Real Madrid.

Manchester United, on the other hand, need to identify a long-term successor for Nemanja Matic, who is slowly being phased out of the first-team squad. To that end, they have been linked with Adrien Rabiot, with Ndidi also emerging as an option worth considering, seeing as the 24-year-old has nearly half-a-decade’s worth of experience in the Premier League.

Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester United, PSG are also interested in signing Ndidi, although Leicester City are yet to be contacted by any of the suitors. The report has not mentioned the Foxes’ valuation of the player either.

Having said that, what does appear to be certain is that Ndidi is being courted by the who’s who of European football. What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid, Manchester United or PSG make their move with a concrete offer for the Nigerian midfielder or if he stays put at the King Power Stadium beyond the summer transfer window.
