Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the future of KRC Genk forward Paul Onuachu, who would welcome a move to Emirates.

According to Transfermarketweb, Arsenal are among the clubs keeping a close eye on Paul Onuachu. The KRC Genk forward has made quite an impact with his performances in the Belgian league but is open to a move to Emirates, which is apparently a “lifelong dream” of his.

A former member of the Midtjylland side, Onuachu initially moved to Genk in 2019 for a fee of €6 million. He has since enjoyed a lot of success, scoring nine goals in his debut campaign.

However, the 26-year-old has taken his game to a whole new level in the ongoing season, having netted a whopping 30 goals in just 33 matches. His performances in front of goal have helped Genk break into the top four of the Jupiler Pro League, with the striker emerging as the club’s top scorer, well ahead of closest competitor Thomas Henry (21).

Arsenal’s interest in Onuachu as the Gunners are bracing themselves for the departure of Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman has already been linked with a move to FC Barcelona, while youngster Eddie Nketiah is also facing an uncertain future at the Emirates.

It has forced Arsenal to enter the market in search of reinforcements in the offensive department. They have been already linked with quite a lot of players including last season’s Jupiler Pro League sensation Jonathan David, who is currently plying his trade at LOSC Lille.

In Paul Onuachu, Mikel Arteta will find himself an exciting option, who could bring in the tactical variety that Arsenal have lacked in the ongoing campaign.

At the age of 26, the Nigerian international might not offer the future prospect. But standing at over 2m, Onuachu is an absolute giant with his tall frame giving him a considerable advantage in physical and aerial duels. In fact, ten of his goals have come from headers this campaign, which is quite an impressive tally for any striker.

Such prowess in duels could make Onuachu a tailor-made fit for the physical nature of the Premier League. But more importantly, it could offer variety to an Arsenal attack that usually relies heavily on technically astute individuals like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Lacazette – making the Nigerian an ideal option for the Gunners this summer.
