Jesse Lingard is reportedly determined to leave Manchester United this summer, with West Ham United hopeful of signing him permanently.

According to a report by Eurosport, Manchester United are set to part ways with Jesse Lingard in the summer transfer window. The English international is pushing for a summer departure from Old Trafford, with West Ham United are hopeful of securing his services on a permanent transfer.

Jesse Lingard has found a new lease of life since joining West Ham United from Manchester United in the winter transfer window on a short-term loan deal. Currently one of the most in-form players in all of Premier League, the 28-year-old has an astonishing record of 9 goals and 4 assists in just 11 appearances for the Hammers.

Such has been his impact for West Ham that Lingard is now being courted by some of the best clubs in the world, including Real Madrid. In addition, the player has also earned a recall to the English national side and could well be a part of the squad for the European Championship. As for his future at club level, Lingard is expected to leave Manchester United.

The report from Eurosport corroborates that as well, stating that Lingard is keen to push for an exit from Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, having been buoyed by his success at West Ham in the second half of the season. As for the Hammers, they have tried to step up their efforts to sign him permanently from Manchester United.

The East Londoners are hopeful of securing his services beyond the summer if they manage to make it to Europe. As far as Lingard is concerned, leaving Manchester United is a sensible decision, considering he is unlikely to usurp Bruno Fernandes, or Donny van de Beek for that matter, in the no. 10 position in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 4-2-3-1 setup.

While Lingard can feature on the right wing, a problematic position for Manchester United, the fact that the Red Devils are intent on making a move for Ousmane Dembele indicates that he is unlikely to be given much of a run-out on the flanks either.

With that in mind, a permanent move away from Manchester United is the right step forward for Lingard to continue his resurgence. What now remains to be seen is if it is West Ham United who swoop him away from Old Trafford or if some other suitor emerges in his pursuit.
