Barcelona have reportedly been handed the chance to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Juventus are desperately looking for buyers for Adrien Rabiot heading into the summer transfer window. To that end, Barcelona and Everton have been offered the chance to sign the 26-year-old French midfielder from the Bianconeri.

Rabiot spent nearly a decade at Paris Saint-Germain and amassed 227 appearances for the French giants before sealing an acrimonious exit from Parc des Princes, having chosen not to pen a renewal with Les Parisiens. Upon leaving PSG, the 26-year-old made his way to Juventus in the summer of 2019.

Since joining the Bianconeri, the French midfielder has been a regular in the first-team setup at the Allianz Stadium and in the ongoing campaign, he has missed just three games when available. But, heading into this summer’s transfer window, Rabiot’s future with Juventus is bleak, with the Serie A champions keen on offloading him. To that end, he has been offered to Barcelona.

Juventus, though, might not have to push Barcelona much for the transfer of the 26-year-old, seeing as it has previously been reported that the Catalan giants have been keeping tabs on him. A possible move for Rabiot makes sense as well.

For around a year now, it has been suggested that Georginio Wijnaldum could be on his way to the Nou Camp on a free transfer, with Ronald Koeman keen on a reunion. However, a move is not set in stone just yet, which is why Barcelona ought to keep their options open and identify potential alternatives.

To that end, Rabiot is a viable target for Barcelona, considering Sergio Busquets is in the twilight of his career while Miralem Pjanic’s move from Juventus has not quite worked out as envisioned. With Philippe Coutinho also facing an uncertain future at the club, Barcelona are in desperate need of a midfield reinforcement.

Apart from the Blaugrana, Everton have also been offered the chance to sign the 26-year-old French midfielder and it will be interesting to see if they make their move for him. As for Barcelona, it will be interesting to see if they prioritise a move for him, or if they choose to sign Wijnaldum on a Bosman deal instead.
