Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on Metz’s midfield whizkid Pape Sarr, who is also courted by Newcastle United and Everton.

According to L’Equipe, Pape Sarr is facing an uncertain future at the club. It appears Metz is well aware of the interest their prized midfielder has attracted this season, with Premier League giants Chelsea emerging as a potential destination, along with OGC Nice, Everton and Newcastle United.

Nice are even willing to make a €12 million swoop for Sarr this summer, as the player continues to impress with his consistent performances in Ligue 1 this season. A product of Senegal’s footballing factor, Generation Foot, Sarr has indeed had a rapid rise to prominence since his transfer to Metz last summer.

He has already made 18 league appearances so far, emerging as a midfield lynchpin alongside Habib Maiga and Victorien Angban. Still only 18, Sarr has exhibited a composure that is well beyond his years while the youngster is also capable of reading the game and operate in a defensive formation. He has the technical prowess to go with it as well, making him an ideal target for Chelsea, who are set for a busy transfer window.

The Blues are widely expected to release their fringe and loan players including Ross Barkley, Marko van Ginkel and Tiemoue Bakayoko, as Thomas Tuchel prepares for a complete overhaul. In Sarr, the Chelsea boss will find himself a talented midfielder, who is equipped with the ideal amount of technical and tactical knowledge that would help thrive in the Premier League.

Although the Senegalese youngster does lack experience at the highest level of football, he can certainly prove to be an ideal competitor for the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Tuchel himself may have seen glimpses of his talents during his time at PSG earlier in the campaign, so a move to Chelsea would certainly make sense for the 18-year-old midfield whizkid this summer.

Chelsea, though, need to be swift in their pursuit of Sarr, with earlier reports suggesting that Manchester United are also keen on services of the Metz starlet. In fact, we could potentially brace ourselves for an interesting transfer duel between these two English giants this summer, as they look to bag his signature before the midfielder makes a bigger impact on the world stage.

However, Newcastle United and Everton are also interested in signing the teenager, with OGC Nice also hot on his trails. It now remains to be seen if Chelsea do end up launching the offensive for the 18-year-old this coming summer, or if he stays put at Metz.
