Eddie Nketiah will spearhead the Arsenal attack, as Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remain unavailable to take on Everton.

Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Everton at the Emirates on Friday. The Gunners simply need to perform better in the Premier League, and with an important Europa League fixture against Villarreal coming up in midweek, it will be interesting to see how Mikel Arteta goes about his business, in terms of team selection.

The Arsenal manager, unfortunately, has his hands tied in the offensive department, as both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have been ruled due to injuries. It should, thus, pave the way for Eddie Nketiah to get a rare starting opportunity, as the leader of the Arsenal attack.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Arteta remained coy when asked about potential injuries happening in the Everton and how it could affect in team selection, “I want to win the game! Then, hopefully, that will come as well.”

“But I don’t even want to think about it. We had so many injuries in recent weeks that put the team in a difficult position but the other players are reacting well, the team is performing well and let’s go and win. That is the best medicine, always, for everything that happens: win football matches.”

The Arsenal manager, though, will think twice before rushing Martin Odegaard back into the starting lineup, as he looks to give the Norwegian international time to recover ahead of the Villarreal game. As such, we are once again expecting a creative trifecta of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli, with Nicolas Pepe and Willian serving as potential alternatives.

Arteta does not have too many options in midfield, unfortunately, especially with Granit Xhaka likely to deputise for the injured Kieran Tierney at left-back. Hence, Thomas Partey may once again form the double pivot alongside Dani Ceballos, who has done a good job recently.

Finally, in the defensive unit, Arsenal could ring in at least three changes, including in goal, where Bernd Leno should replace Mat Ryan, who could soon make his move to Arsenal permanent.

Elsewhere, Pablo Mari is likely to replace Gabriel Magalhaes, forming the central defensive partnership alongside Rob Holding while Calum Chambers should complete the back four, with Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares set to be rested for the upcoming game against Villarreal next week.

Arsenal Predicted XI: Leno; Chambers, Holding, Mari, Xhaka; Partey, Ceballos; Saka, Smith Rowe, Martinelli; Nketiah
