Manchester United are ready to battle top clubs in pursuit of Metz’s youth sensation Pape Sarr, who is ready for a summer move.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are among clubs eyeing a summer swoop for Pape Sarr and are leading the race for his signing. The FC Metz midfielder has attracted interest from all over Europe following his breakthrough in Ligue 1, and although the club is reluctant to offload their prized asset this summer, it appears the player is ready for a big-money move.

It has put United on red alert, as they continue their scouting mission that already helped them secure the services of a host of young, talented individuals like Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo and Daniel James in recent years. They have recently been linked with a move for Eduardo Camavinga as well.

After largely being a sporadic member of the first-team, Sarr has become a key component of the Metz midfield since the turn of the year. He has already notched up 17 league appearances, forming a solid combination alongside Habib Maiga in the middle of the park.

Still only 18, Sarr has impressed the onlookers with his composure that is well beyond his years while the youngster is also capable of reading the game and operate in a defensive formation. He has the technical prowess to go with it as well – making him an ideal target for a Manchester United side, who are set for a busy transfer window.

Nemanja Matic, in particular, is nearing the final phase of his career, with the Red Devils desperately in need of someone who can replace him in the long run and form a solid combination alongside the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay.

In Sarr, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could find himself a talented youngster, who has room to improve and is equipped with the quality to thrive in the Premier League. Manchester United have already had a great record in developing young players in recent years, so the Red Devils could take a gamble on the Metz midfielder as he seeks the take the next step in his career.
