Manchester United are reportedly set to hold talks with the representatives of Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez over a potential summer move in the coming weeks.

According to an exclusive report from Stretty News, Manchester United are among a number of clubs that is set to sit down with the entourage of Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez to discuss a transfer in the upcoming summer window.

Vazquez, a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, has grown into a valuable member of the team since breaking into the senior setup in 2015. A key part of the team that has tasted so much success under Zinedine Zidane in the past few years, the 29-year-old is set to be on the move at the end of the season.

Indeed, Vazquez will be out of contract with Real Madrid when the 2020/21 campaign crosses the finish line next month. And with talks over a renewal not going according to plans, the Spanish international seems to be headed for the exit doors, which has alerted a host of top clubs across Europe, including Manchester United.

While Vazquez has played as a right-winger for almost his entire career, during this season the 29-year-old showed that he can be quite an effective performer at right-back. And, as per the aforementioned report, that is what has attracted Manchester United to the Real Madrid star as the club eyes a competitor for current first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Since joining the club from Crystal Palace in 2019, Wan-Bissaka has been unchallenged and has established himself as the undisputed first-choice at right-back. However, his limitations in attack have seemingly held back Manchester United on quite a few occasions this term. Plus, with Diogo Dalot, who is currently out on loan at AC Milan, facing an uncertain future, a new right-back would be a good signing.

To that end, Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Norwich City’s Max Aarons. But Vazquez, who is currently sidelined with an injury, would also be a viable target given his experience at the highest availability and his free agent status. To that end, the Red Devils are set to hold talks with the Spaniard’s representatives to assess the possibility of a summer transfer.

However, the report goes on to add that there is nothing advanced at this stage, but it’s more of the club testing the waters about the feasibility of a transfer. It is also mentioned that a number of other clubs in the Premier League and Europe, have their sights set on Vazquez. So, it remains to be seen if a move to Old Trafford does materialise this summer.
