A move to Manchester United could be on the cards for Wojciech Szczesny, who is tipped to leave Juventus in the summer.

An exclusive report from Calciomercato has shed some light on Juventus’ transfer situation, especially in the goalkeeping department as the club braces itself for a major squad overhaul this summer. One of many players who are expected to leave Turin is goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, as the Bianconeri seemingly become the favourites to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Szczesny’s uncertain future has now reportedly put Manchester United on red alert and a potential return to England could be on the horizon for the Juventus goalkeeper this summer.

It appears the Red Devils might be looking at the Pole, as a potential replacement for David de Gea, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after struggling with form and consistency. His exorbitant wages have also caused problems for the club, in terms of finances.

In Szczesny, Manchester United would find themselves an experienced goalkeeper,  who has featured in 131 competitive appearances for Juventus while winning 52 caps for the Polish national team. Perhaps more importantly, the 30-year-old has the exposure of playing in English football, having spent nine professional seasons at Arsenal.

Szczesny, therefore, could be a viable target for Manchester United, especially from a sporting perspective. He has the experience as well as the winning mentality that might ultimately prove beneficial for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He can also be an ideal competitor for Dean Henderson next season as the Red Devils brace themselves for the potential departure of de Gea.

As for Juventus, Szczesny’s potential departure could create a massive void in the goalkeeping department considering their second choice ‘keeper in Gianluigi Buffon is 43.

Time for a parting of ways? – The curious case of David de Gea and Manchester United

As mentioned earlier, AC Milan custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma has been identified as the club’s desired target this summer. But quite interestingly, the young Italian has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Negotiations could be quite difficult as well, as Donnarumma’s status as a free agent is sure to attract interest from all across Europe. It may ultimately force Juventus to appear cautious with the desire to sell Szczesny, knowing it could be a difficult task finding a replacement should they miss out on their prime targets this summer.
