Barcelona are reportedly continuing to keep tabs on Dani Olmo, who has been scouted regularly this season by his former club.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona have been closely monitoring Dani Olmo over the course of the season and are in contact with his representatives over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Dani Olmo has progressed significantly since leaving Barcelona to join Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2014. Indeed, it is following a strange move to the Croatian outfit that he went on to grow in his career at an exponential rate, subsequently attracting interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.

In January 2020, RB Leipzig beat several other suitors to secure his services till the summer of 2024. And, after an initial bedding-in period, the 22-year-old has gone on to become an ever-present figure in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad, featuring in each of Die Roten Bullen’s 40 games this season.

His progress has also meant that Olmo has gone on to cement his place in the Spanish national side where he has an admirer in Luis Enrique. The youngster’s exploits have also alerted the suitors once again, with former club Barcelona once again in his pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window.

The continued interest in Olmo makes sense, seeing as Philippe Coutinho seems to have no future at Camp Nou. If Barcelona do end up cashing in on the Brazilian international, who has been linked with Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, Olmo can be a like-for-like replacement at Camp Nou.

Apart from Olmo, Leipzig teammate Christopher Nkunku has also been scouted by Barcelona. As per SPORT, though, it looks like Olmo could be a player who is high on the Blaugrana’s shortlist of targets ahead of the summer transfer window, with the 22-year-old Spanish international being someone “fits the bill” for th4e club.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona launch a serious move for the young midfielder in the coming weeks, after having rekindled their interest in him. For now, though, it looks like Olmo is very much back on the radar of Barcelona, with a move in the summer transfer window possible.
