Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a summer move for Kieran Tierney, who is valued at around €30 million by Arsenal.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Kieran Tierney has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The Scottish international could be open to a switch to the Spanish capital, with Arsenal valuing him at around €30 million.

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019, arriving in England after years of intense speculation linking him with several Premier League clubs. The Scotsman endured a difficult maiden campaign at the Emirates, with injuries restricting his game-time a fair bit.

The fitness troubles have not dissipated away this term either, but Tierney has grown in stature in the Arsenal first-team setup, managing 2 goals and 4 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions. However, Arsenal’s struggles and the inability to qualify for the UEFA Champions League could signal the end of the 23-year-old’s time at the club, with Real Madrid interested in him.

Real Madrid are in the market for a left-back ahead of the summer transfer window, and for good reason, with Marcelo enduring a sharp decline in his levels in the last couple of years. In fact, this season, the veteran Brazilian has become a bit-part player in Zinedine Zidane’s squad, with Ferland Mendy the undisputed first-choice left-back.

With Marcelo touted to be on the exit trail at Real Madrid, the need to sign a replacement is indeed understandable, with a number of players identified as possible targets. To that end, Benjamin Mendy is one of the players on Los Blancos’ radar.

In addition, a return for Sergio Reguilon has also been mooted, while Raphael Guerreiro is being courted as well, as per widespread reports, whereas Theo Hernandez is also a target. Tierney, though, is also an option worth considering and the fact that he would be open to leaving Arsenal might make him easier to swoop in.

His price tag is not too excessive either, with Arsenal demanding €30 million in exchange for his services. While Real Madrid’s recent financial issues do make shelling out such a sum a tad bit complicated as well, the fact that Arsenal want to sign Martin Odegaard permanently could be a factor that could come into play.

For now, though, it looks like Tierney is the latest left-back to be linked with Real Madrid, who are set to offload Marcelo. It now remains to be seen if the Scottish international ends up calling it quits at Arsenal this coming summer, or if he stays put at the Emirates heading into the 2021/22 season.
