Manchester United are once again open to trading Donny van de Beek as they express interest in signing Adrien Rabiot.
According to Tuttosport, as relayed by the Daily Mail, Manchester United are prepared to use Donny van de Beek as a makeweight in their attempts to sign Adrien Rabiot.
The Juventus star has been identified as one of the top targets for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to add reinforcements in the midfield unit this summer. The Frenchman himself could be part of Juve’s chopping block as the Serie A giants look to balance the books through the sale of several star players.
The Old Lady are already expected to offload former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey in the summer, with the midfielder being linked with a shock move to Liverpool in recent weeks. Rabiot’s followed departure, in that regard, could leave a massive void in Juventus’ midfield unit, which is why it appears Manchester United are ready to offer van de Beek in return.
A product of the Ajax youth academy, the youngster has had difficulties at Old Trafford since joining the club for a hefty £40 million. He has struggled with a lack of game-time under Solskjaer, falling behind the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order and earning a total of just two league starts in the entire campaign so far.
It doesn’t bode well for a player of his calibre, so the Dutchman could certainly fancy a move to Juventus, who, under Andrea Pirlo, is going through a major transitional phase.
Juventus were linked with a move for van de Beek prior to his move to Manchester United and they might still welcome his services next season, as a potential replacement for Ramsey. A move to Turin should also allow him to reunite with former teammate Matthijs de Ligt.
Van de Beek was earlier linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, with the Red Devils reportedly willing to use him as a makeweight in a deal to sign top target Jadon Sancho. Either way, the Dutchman’s days at Manchester seem to be numbered, with a move to Juventus now emerging as a possibility.
In return, Manchester United could find themselves a more experienced midfield operator in Rabiot. The former PSG star has already enjoyed some success at Juventus and the French national team. His experience, combined with the technical quality could make him a natural replacement for the ageing Nemanja Matic at Old Trafford.
