Barcelona are reportedly closely monitoring the progress of 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder Domingos Quina, currently on loan at Granada from Watford.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Domingos Quina is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the future. The Catalan heavyweights are keeping tabs on the progress of the 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who is currently on loan at Granada from Watford.

Quina spent his youth footballing career at two of the biggest academies in the world, having been at Benfica till 2012 before spending four years at Chelsea. However, the youngster finally graduated from the West Ham United academy, although he never really managed to establish a foothold in their first-team setup.

Upon joining Watford in the summer 2018, the 21-year-old continued to struggle for minutes, but has come into his own this season. The Portuguese midfielder first enjoyed a decent first half of the season before joining Granada on loan in the winter window. And, his performances in La Liga are starting to get noticed, with Barcelona keeping a close watch on his growth.

Barcelona have been heavily linked with a summer move for Georginio Wijnaldum as they aim to bolster their midfield without burning a hole in their pocket amid their financial struggles. However, in recent weeks, it has been suggested that a transfer involving the Liverpool midfielder might not be set in stone, meaning the Blaugrana need to consider alternatives for the Dutchman.

As a result, a number of other midfield options have been identified by Barcelona, as per widespread reports, with Ryan Gravenberch also being linked with the Catalan giants lately. And now, it looks like Quina could possibly be an option on the radars of Barcelona as well.

The report does not mention whether Barcelona are going to launch the offensive for the 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder anytime soon, only claiming that the youngster has been scouted by the La Liga heavyweights since his loan move to Granada.

Nevertheless, it looks like Quina could well be one of the many alternatives for Wijnaldum who are on the agenda for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window. And with that in mind, it remains to be seen if the Catalans end up prioritising a move for the Watford loanee.
