Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly one of several right-backs that Real Madrid are closely monitoring.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The current La Liga champions have the Liverpool defender in their sights, although he did not make an impression in the meeting between the two sides this week.

Trent Alexander-Arnold joined the Liverpool academy as a six-year-old in 2004 and subsequently progressed through the ranks at the Merseyside club before breaking into the first-team setup in 2016. Over the past half-a-decade or so, the 22-year-old has grown exponentially to establish himself as one of the best full-backs in the game currently.

His numbers for a couple of seasons were simply unbelievable, with Alexander-Arnold being among the most creative players in the Premier. And while he has suffered a fall from grace this term, the English international still has an impressive career tally of 9 goals and 41 assists in 170 outings for Liverpool. His exploits in recent years seem to have caught the attention of Real Madrid.

The defending La Liga champions could enter the transfer market for a right-back in the summer transfer window owing to the uncertain future that Alvaro Odriozola is facing at the club. If the young Spaniard does end up being offloaded, Real Madrid will invariably need a top class replacement, especially with Dani Carvajal struggling with fitness issues lately.

In addition, with Lucas Vazquez, who has excelled as a makeshift right-back this season, also being tipped for a summer exit, Real Madrid do seem to be in a precarious situation as far as the right-back position is concerned. To that end, the Merengues have been linked with Pedro Porro, with Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold also on their radar.

The 20-year-old, though, did not quite make a solid impression when Real Madrid took on Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week. Nevertheless, it looks like Alexander-Arnold is a player who Florentino Perez seemingly admires a great deal. Having said that, the report does not mention a summer offer and it remains to be seen if Los Blancos’ interest turns into anything serious.
