Liverpool have reportedly lodged an enquiry with Norwich City over the possibility of signing Emiliano Buendia in the summer transfer window.

According to an exclusive report from Anfield Central, Liverpool have made an approach to EFL Championship leaders Norwich City over a potential summer move for Emiliano Buendia.

The 24-year-old, who spent a year in Real Madrid’s youth system, rose through the ranks at Getafe and made his name in Spain before making the switch to Norwich City in the summer of 2018. Since arriving at Carrow Road, Buendia has grown into an integral player for the Canaries.

Indeed, the Argentine winger played a pivotal part in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2018/19 campaign while he was one of their best players in the top-flight last term. even though they ended up going back down. And, Buendia is once again leading the charge for Daniel Farke’s men as they push for a return to the Premier League.

Buendia, so far in 2020/21, has been in scintillating form, posting amazing numbers of 12 goals and 16 assists in 33 EFL Championship appearances. The 24-year-old was directly involved in four goals (1G, 3A) as the Canaries thumped Huddersfield Town 7-0 in their most recent fixture.

Buendia has previously attracted interest from Premier League clubs, with Arsenal said to have been monitoring him in the past. However, it is Liverpool, now, who have taken a liking to the Argentine forward and have already lodged an enquiry with Norwich over his availability.

The Reds’ attack has not been performing at the levels expected of them this term. Mohamed Salah has had to carry the majority of the goal-scoring burden along with summer arrival Diogo Jota, as Roberto Firmino has been going through a lean patch while Sadio Mane has also blown hot and cold at times.

Besides, there have been question marks raised over the future of Salah, who has attracted a lot of interest from a number of clubs in Europe such as Barcelona and Real Madrid while former employers Chelsea are also said to be considering the possibility of re-signing him.

With the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also staring at uncertain futures at Anfield, a move for someone like Buendia would make a lot of sense for Liverpool. Norwich, however, are unlikely to want to lose their best player given as they are set to be back in the top-tier of English football.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League champions are able to convince the Canaries to part ways with Buendia ahead of next season.
