Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero is reportedly tempted by the idea of joining Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer window.

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Manchester City striker and icon Sergio Aguero would be open to the idea of joining Premier League rivals Chelsea at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Aguero has been with Manchester City since 2011, having signed from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. During his ten-year stint at the club, the Argentine international has grown to achieve great things, becoming the Cityzens’ all-time leading goalscorer, helping them win numerous titles and trophies.

However, the fruitful partnership between Aguero and Manchester City will come to an end this summer. Indeed, the club confirmed last week that the veteran striker will be on his way out when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Aguero’s soon-to-be free agent status has put a number of top clubs on high alert, including the likes of Barcelona, with the Catalans intent on landing the Argentine to fill the void that was left by Luis Suarez’s departure in the last summer transfer window.

However, Chelsea have also emerged as a potential destination for the 32-year-old with the Blues said to be keenly monitoring his situation. In fact, reports last week even went on to claim that the west London giants had already acted on their interest in Aguero by making a contract offer to the striker.

Now, it is being said that Aguero is intrigued by the possibility of making the switch to Chelsea when his contract with Manchester City runs out. The Argentine desires to break as many Premier League records as possible, which could have given Chelsea a major chance of signing him.

As things stand, Aguero, with 181 goals, is fourth on the list of Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorers. The Manchester City superstar is just six shy of Andy Cole in third. While Alan Shearer’s tally of 260 might well be out of reach, Wayne Rooney’s 208 goals could still be very much achievable for the veteran striker.

And Chelsea could provide him with the chance to just that, with the report stating that the Blues are “at the table” with an offer to secure his transfer. Despite having signed Timo Werner in the summer, the Chelsea attack has looked blunt this term.

And with Olivier Giroud’s contract running out at the end of the campaign, there will be space for another striker in the squad. While Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund remains a top target, Aguero is being considered seriously. And with the Argentine also responding positively to the interest, a move could very well take place this summer for him, instead of Barcelona.
