Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly among the clubs that are keenly monitoring the situation of Andrea Belotti, who could leave Torino this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere Granata, Torino are in a precarious situation over the future of captain Andrea Belotti ahead of the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old Italian forward is consequently the subject of interest from Chelsea, Tottenham and several other clubs.

Belotti has gone on to establish himself as one of the best forwards on show in Serie A since joining Torino from Palermo in the summer of 2015. A mainstay for the Granata pretty much since the off, the 27-year-old has been the leading light for the Italian club over the last six years.

The ongoing season, though, has been a little slow by his standards, with Belotti, who was made the club captain ahead of the 2017/18 season, managing only 11 goals and 6 assists in 26 Serie A appearances. Nevertheless, his stock remains as high as ever, as suggested by interest from Chelsea and Tottenham, among others.

Chelsea are reportedly set to enter the transfer market for a forward this coming summer, partly due to Timo Werner’s struggles to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge. In addition, Olivier Giroud is tipped to depart Stamford Bridge post the end of the season, while Tammy Abraham has struggled for minutes under Thomas Tuchel. As a result, the Blues have opened talks with Erling Haaland.

However, with the Norwegian forward being chased by the who’s who of European football, it is prudent for Chelsea to keep their options open, which has seen them being linked with Romelu Lukaku, with Belotti a viable target as well. As for Tottenham, with Harry Kane in Jose Mourinho’s squad, they really do not need a Haaland as things stand.

However, Kane’s future has question marks surrounding it following yet another season that could end without silverware. The England captain has been linked with a number of top clubs across Europe. With that in mind, Belotti could be a player worth considering for Tottenham.

Apart from Chelsea and Tottenham, a bevy of clubs across Europe are closely monitoring Belotti’s situation at Torino, where his current deal expires in a little over a year. However, his €100 million release clause, valid only for foreign clubs, could put a spanner in the works for the two Londoners.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how contract talks progress between Belotti and Torino, who are hopeful of tying their star forward down to a new contract that will bump his wages by 50 percent. Failure to do so, though, could well see Chelsea, Tottenham or others pounce.
