Liverpool will be aiming to keep their Premier League top-four hopes alive when they lock horns with Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday. And, Jurgen Klopp has been handed a boost on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

While the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson remain long-term absentees for Liverpool, Caoimhin Kelleher and Divock Origi are also unavailable. However, the good news comes in the form of Roberto Firmino, who has rejoined full training this week.

During his pre-match press conference, Klopp provided a brief update on the Brazilian striker. The Liverpool boss said, “Bobby is back, all the others not.”

While Firmino is in contention to feature, he is unlikely to start, with Diogo Jota likely to reprise the false nine role in the Liverpool attack, which will be completed by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Firmino, meanwhile, will likely be an option off the bench.

The midfield trio is expected to remain unchanged, with Fabinho once again sitting at the base of the three-man unit. The Brazilian international will have Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago Alcantara for company in the middle of the park.

As for defence, Klopp heaped praise on Nathaniel Phillips after it was announced that he had been named Liverpool’s Player of the Month for March. The Liverpool manager said, “I couldn’t be more pleased for him. I couldn’t really love our supporters [more] for giving this Player of the Month award to him. It’s well deserved because he helped us a lot, he’s a brilliant guy, he’s an extremely smart guy and enjoys the moment a lot.”

Phillips will start at the heart of the Liverpool defence against Arsenal, with Ozan Kabak being his partner. Out wide, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will continue as the two full-backs. Finally, in goal, there is no looking past Alisson Becker.
