Arsenal are reportedly lining up a summer move for Brondby’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom, who has been in good form in 2020/21.

According to a report from Jeunes Footeux, Premier League giants Arsenal are plotting a raid on Danish outfit Brondby IF for the signing of Jesper Lindstrom in the summer transfer window.

Having come through the youth ranks at the club, the 21-year-old Lindstrom made his first-team debut in 2018. Since then, he has gradually grown into a vital player for Brondby, making 58 appearances in total. The attacking midfielder has been playing some of his best football this term, registering nine goals and assists each in 24 games.

And, this has been enough for Lindstrom to pop up on the radars of several Premier League clubs including Arsenal. The Gunners endured a difficult first half of the 2020/21 season due to the lack of a creative midfielder within the ranks as Mesut Ozil had been exiled by manager Mikel Arteta.

However, things have seen a major improvement since the inclusion of academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe in the lineup coupled with the loan acquisition of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid in the January transfer window. The Norwegian has been quite impressive in his few appearances for the Gunners, prompting them to consider a permanent move for him.

However, a transfer in the summer transfer window might be difficult given as Real Madrid are likely to demand a hefty transfer fee for Odegaard. In addition, there is also interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, who could be able to provide Champions League football for the 22-year-old next term.

So, it would only be prudent of Arsenal to not put all their eggs in the Odegaard basket and explore potential alternatives for the Norwegian international, which is where someone like Lindstrom would enter the picture. The 21-year-old signed a new contract with Brondby last year, which runs till the summer of 2023.

Apart from Arsenal, the one-time capped Denmark international is also courting interest from fellow London club West Ham United while Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig are also keenly monitoring the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. And, given the amount of interest, Brondby are likely to be unwilling to let him go on the cheap.

It now remains to be seen whether Arsenal decide to make a move for Lindstrom in the summer or continue ahead with their pursuit of a permanent transfer for Odegaard.
