Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are reportedly engaged in the race to sign Marcel Sabitzer, who is valued at €42 million by RB Leipzig.

According to a report by German publication Bild, Marcel Sabitzer could be on the move in the summer transfer window. As a result, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are all scrambling for the signature of the Austrian international, with RB Leipzig slapping a €42 million price tag on him.

Sabitzer joined RB Leipzig from Rapid Wien in the summer of 2014 and has since grown leaps and bounds. Now the club captain at the Red Bull Arena, the 27-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Bundesliga, while having featured over 200 times for Die Roten Bullen, with a decent tally of 50 goals and 41 assists to show for his efforts.

However, Sabitzer faces an uncertain future at Leipzig ahead of the summer transfer window, with his current deal having a little over a year remaining to run out. This has piqued the interest of a number of clubs, particularly in the Premier League, where Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are vying for his signature.

Liverpool are in the market for a midfielder due to the precarious situation pertaining to the future of Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch international is tipped to leave Liverpool as a free agent in the summer, forcing the Reds into the market for a replacement. To that end, the Premier League champions have been linked with Nabil Fekir, who is also a target for Manchester United.

Speaking of Manchester United, they are also in a tricky position, seeing as Paul Pogba is once again facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford. Pogba’s potential departure would prompt a move for a replacement, which makes Sabitzer a viable target for the Red Devils to bolster their midfield.

As for Tottenham, they are in serious need of signing a player who can progress the ball as well as he can perform off it. With Dele Alli’s situation at the club hardly improving, it makes sense for Spurs to keep their options open, meaning a possible move for Sabitzer does make sense.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham, though, will not get Sabitzer at a cut-price fee, with Leipzig looking to recoup around €42 million for him. Having said that, the valuation is not exorbitant either, and with that in mind, it will be interesting to see if any of the three clubs are ready to pay the price to land Sabitzer come summer.
