Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is also on the radars of La Liga champions Real Madrid.

According to a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, Premier League giants Arsenal have entered the race to sign Fiorentina’s Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic in the summer.

Vlahovic, 21, came through the youth ranks at Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade before making the switch to Fiorentina in the summer of 2018. Having largely spent his debut season in Italy with the club’s reserve team, the centre-forward has been a regular in the senior side since last season.

So far, Vlahovic has made 74 appearances for the Viola, scoring 20 goals and setting up four more. The young striker has been in impressive form in the 2020/21 campaign, bagging 12 goals in 27 Serie A matches, along with a couple of assists as well. He also has two goals in six appearances for the Serbian national team.

Vlahovic’s rise to prominence with Fiorentina and Serbia has now seen him attract admirers in plenty, with the likes of RB Leipzig, AC Milan, AS Roma, Atletico Madrid all showing interest, with Premier League giants Arsenal also among the list of his suitors.

The Gunners could be in need of bolstering their attacking unit in the summer with reports having claimed that Mikel Arteta is ready to axe both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah at the end of the season.

In addition, taking into consideration captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s form this term, the Gunners could benefit from signing a new centre-forward this term. Thus, Vlahovic, given his age and potential, can be a viable option for Arsenal to consider, along with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Andre Silva.

However, things may not be straightforward in his pursuit as, apart from the aforementioned clubs, the Serbian international is also said to be on the radars of Spanish champions Real Madrid. Furthermore, Vlahovic’s contract with Fiorentina still has a little over two years left, meaning the Italians will be under no pressure to sell.

So, it remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal’s pursuit of the six-time capped Serbian international leads to anything substantial in the coming weeks or if they turn their focus to alternate options.
