Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly joined Barcelona in the race to sign Valencia’s teenage prodigy Fabio Blanco in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Chelsea and Manchester United have entered the race to sign Valencia winger Fabio Blanco, who is also a transfer target for La Liga giants Barcelona.

Blanco, 17, is a product of Valencia’s youth academy and currently plies his trade with the La Liga club’s Under-17 outfit. Dubbed as the ‘new Ferran Torres’ due to the similarities in his game-play with that of the former Valencia and current Manchester City star, the right-winger has been making all the right noises in youth football.

This has led to strong interest in his services from Valencia’s La Liga rivals Barcelona. The Catalans’ interest in Blanco is being driven by their new director Mateu Alemany, who believes that this is an opportunity that the club should not miss out on given as the teenager will be out of contract with Valencia at the end of the season.

However, Barcelona are now set to face fierce competition from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to secure the signing of Blanco.

Chelsea, for years, have made it a habit of recruiting top youth stars from across the globe into their academy. And while, in the past, a pathway to the first-team wasn’t always available for the youngsters, things have changed over the past couple of years thanks to the success of the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham.

And with the potential that Blanco has shown in the Under-19 division, where most footballers are a year or two older than him, has alerted the Blues to make an attempt for his signing. But, Manchester United are also said to be keen on recruit the soon-to-be out of contract winger.

Manchester United over the past year or so have invested heavily in strengthening their youth setup, signing several promising youngsters from within England as well as outside. Most recently, the Red Devils had been linked with Argentine prodigy Gonzalo Sosa, who also happens to be on the radars of Barcelona.

And it now seems that the two clubs, along with Chelsea, will square off for the signing of Blanco from Valencia. The report also adds that there is interest from Real Madrid as well as Manchester City along with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus. It now remains to be seen where Blanco ends up at the end of the season.
