Real Madrid have reportedly ‘practically completed’ the signing of Borussia Dortmund goalscorer and Manchester United target Erling Haaland.

According to an update from reputed Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda on El Chiringuito TV, as relayed by OK Diario, Real Madrid are close to completing the transfer of Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.

The 20-year-old joined Dortmund in the January transfer window last year from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg and has taken the European footballing scene by storm. Haaland, in a little over a year in Germany, has plundered 49 goals in 49 games, with 33 of those coming in the current season.

Haaland’s goalscoring exploits have drawn him attention from the who’s who of Europe, with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United all credited with serious interest in the 20-year-old, along with reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Recent reports had even claimed that Manchester United had made Haaland their priority transfer target for the upcoming summer window. However, it now seems like the Red Devils stand little chance of signing the Norwegian international with Eduardo Inda claiming that Haaland’s move to Real Madrid is ‘practically done’.

“The signing of Haaland by Real Madrid is practically done. It is closer than it seems. One of the keys is Florentino’s great harmony with the president of Dortmund, who are contemporaries and get along very well,” he said.

Inda further added that the deal would cost Real Madrid somewhere around the €150 million mark in total, with negotiations with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola also seemingly wrapped up. “The negotiation with Raiola is being carried out by José Ángel Sánchez and the agreement with the footballer is closed. It would cost around 150 million euros in total.”

The journalist also went on to explain that Real Madrid, despite some difficulties, have the best financial structure in Europe currently and are working out on how to make the payments to Dortmund. If true, this will be a huge coup for Zinedine Zidane & co.

Ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018, Real Madrid have been crying out loud for a prolific goalscorer. Karim Benzema has stepped up in the interim but with little support from those around of him, has had to do it all by himself more often than not.

Add to it, the fact that the Frenchman is already 33 and will soon be entering the final phase of his career, it only exacerbated the need of a new striker at Real Madrid at the earliest possible. While Tottenham star and England captain Harry Kane was being considered as an option, it seems like it will be Erling Haaland who is set to be the next Galactico signing for Real Madrid.
