Manchester United have reportedly decided to call off their pursuit of Celtic’s teenage goalkeeper Vincent Angelini, who is a transfer target for Leeds United.

According to a report from Stretty News, Premier League giants Manchester United have decided not to pursue the signing of 17-year-old Celtic goalkeeper Vincent Angelini in the summer transfer window.

Angelini is a product of the Celtic youth academy and is held in high regard within the club. However, the teenage shot-stopper will be out of contract at the end of the current season and talks over a new deal haven’t gone as per plans for the Scottish giants as the youngster has rejected their latest contract offer.

Angelini’s situation has led to serious interest from a host of clubs in England as well as some in Europe, with Manchester United also said to have expressed some keenness in landing the goalkeeper.

With the club once again shifting focus to its youth-centric ideologies, the Red Devils, over the past year or so, have been aggressive in their recruitment of youngsters to bolster their age-group and reserve teams. The youth goalkeeping department has also seen new arrivals in the form of Radek Vitek and Nathan Bishop not long ago.

And, Angelini, too was touted to be a transfer target for the 20-time English champions. However, as per the latest update from Stretty News, who broke the update of Manchester United’s interest in the 17-year-old in the first place, the Red Devils have decided not to pursue the signing of the Celtic youngster.

The report does not provide an explanation as to why Manchester United have made the decision to call off their pursuit of the youngster. But that does not mean that Angelini is short of suitors for his services. The 17-year-old is commanding interest from United’s arch-rivals Leeds United along with other Premier League clubs like Everton Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham.

In addition, the goalkeeping prodigy also has admirers in Italy, with the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Lazio all lining up moves for Angelini. So, it seems like the 17-year-old will most certainly be on his way out of Celtic at the end of the season. However, it will not be Old Trafford where the youngster is likely to end up as things stand.
