Liverpool and Manchester United are among clubs reportedly monitoring Christian Pulisic’s developing situation at Premier League giants Chelsea.

The Daily Mail have reported of a developing situation involving Christian Pulisic. The USMNT star could be on his way out of Chelsea after being frozen out since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival. The potential of his departure and subsequent availability has alerted the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The report states that Pulisic is not happy with a lack of playing time since the arrival of Tuchel, with the former PSG manager yet to hand a Premier League start to the winger at Chelsea. The disgruntled attacker might now be up for an exit in the summer transfer window, with the European bigwigs lining up to monitor and pounce on the opportunity.

Christian Pulisic was widely regarded as a wonderkid since his arrival at Borussia Dortmund. He showed a lot of promise and surprisingly, Chelsea came calling in the summer of 2019, with the Blues looking to replace Eden Hazard in the starting lineup. The USMNT star started slowly at Stamford Bridge but soon showed why he was a talent deserving of the hype he received.

Pulisic ended the 2019/20 season with 9 goals and 6 assists in the Premier League under Frank Lampard. However, a flurry of star signings in the summer was followed by a decadent run of results that ultimately ended up with Chelsea removing Frank Lampard as their manager. In stepped Thomas Tuchel, who has steadied the ship. But, for Pulisic, it has been far from a steady campaign.

Thomas Tuchel: The dawn of a new abrasive thinktank at Chelsea

His numbers – a goal and an assist in 20 Premier League games – make for a grim reading and the fact that the USMNT star has slid down the pecking order at Chelsea points towards an exit being on the cards. Naturally, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are on alert.

Jurgen Klopp has seen his knights of Liverpool falter faster than a deck of cards in what can be labelled an abysmal defence of their maiden Premier League title. The attack seems toothless and clearly is in need of some fresh faces as well as motivation.

Diogo Jota’s arrival in the summer had an excellent effect but the Portuguese has also succumbed to injuries, making life a little bit harder for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Pulisic’s burst of pace and his flair would be a potent addition to Liverpool’s arsenal, especially with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both being rumoured to be on the radar of other European bigwigs.

For Manchester United, it is the long-standing case of finding a quality right winger to complete their attacking quartet. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loves players with flexibility in attack and Pulisic’s ability to play across all four positions in attack is something that will appeal to the Manchester United manager. There are questions on Anthony Martial’s form and Edinson Cavani’s future, which could make sense for United to go for Pulisic, despite bringing in two young right wingers in the form of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traore.

The fact that Pulisic is likely to cost lesser than Jadon Sancho would also be a driving factor for Manchester United. Bayern Munich have their own reasons to go for Pulisic, with the club being interested in the USMNT star from his time at Dortmund.

Only time will tell if, come summer, Pulisic remains disgruntled at his new role of a super-sub at Chelsea and asks for a transfer. If it does happen, though, expect the aforementioned clubs to be there in the running to sign the USMNT star.
