Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on Joao Felix, who is unhappy at Atletico Madrid due to Diego Simeone’s tactical philosophy.

An exclusive report from Diario Gol has offered insight into the situation of Joao Felix. The Atletico Madrid forward does not exactly face an uncertain future at the club, but the player is certainly unhappy with his current role, as well as the tactical philosophy of Diego Simeone. And it has put Real Madrid on red alert.

The Spanish champions are closely monitoring Felix’s situation at Atletico Madrid, in case, he wants to leave Wanda Metropolitano in the future. His current contract with the club expires in the summer of 2026, while Atleti themselves would want to recoup the fortune they had spent on the player, in the event of his potential departure.

Felix is not the top priority for Real Madrid either, with the European giants mainly eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland or PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

They are among the top contenders to land them in the upcoming summer transfer window, whilst getting rid of a host of players including Gareth Bale, who could be available for €30 million.

As for Felix, he has endured a mixed season, with his form and essence dwindling since the turn of the year. In fact, the former SL Benfica starlet has largely featured on the bench in recent matches, including the recent Madrid derby.

The attacker has also found the back of the net only twice since Matchday 10, allowing the likes of Angel Correa and Thomas Lemar to become more prominent members of the first-team.

Yet, Florentino Perez does take a certain interest in Felix, knowing the youngster’s quality. Indeed, the Portuguese sensation’s dynamism, skill and productivity could become a real asset for Real Madrid, who are lacking a protagonist in the final third ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although Felix’s style of play or mentality does not resemble that of Ronaldo, the 21-year-old certainly packs a punch when it comes to his quality. He can, therefore, muster a solid offensive combination alongside the likes of Eden Hazard, Vinicius and Karim Benzema, helping Zinedine Zidane rebuild Real Madrid’s offensive unit that can compete with the best in Europe.

At the end of the day, however, a lot could depend on Atletico Madrid’s valuation. But more importantly, a move to Real Madrid seems a bit far-fetched, at least in the immediate future and it appears the Portuguese international is likely to prolong his stay at Wanda Metropolitano, hoping to rekindle his scoring form under Simeone.
