Donny van de Beek is in contention to feature while Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire should start when Manchester United take on Chelsea in the Premier League.

Manchester United will be aiming to continue their unbeaten streak away from home in the Premier League when they travel to Stamford Bridge to lock horns with arch-rivals Chelsea on Sunday evening.

Heading into the game, there is some good news for Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as midfielder Donny van de Beek could be available for selection having recovered from a muscle injury. However, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are ruled out while Daniel James and Edinson Cavani remain major doubts as well.

“Donny trained today and he felt okay after training so hopefully [there is] no reaction. o he should be with us. It was just a tweak [for Dan]. I need to give him until Saturday or even Sunday so, hopefully, he can shake it off, but I’m not sure. They [Paul Pogba and Scott] are out. They’ve not trained, Edinson hasn’t trained yet, so I wouldn’t be too optimistic about that. but miracles can happen,” Solskjaer told club media.

There will be changes made to the team that took the field against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 second leg on Thursday night. First off, David de Gea should return to the lineup, replacing Dean Henderson between the sticks against Chelsea.

There will be a couple of changes in the backline as well, with Manchester United captain Harry Maguire set to replace Victor Lindelof as Eric Bailly’s partner at centre-back while Luke Shaw comes back to the side at left-back at the expense of Alex Telles. Aaron Wan-Bissaka remains the undisputed choice to start at right-back for United.

While van de Beek has returned to training, he might not be ready for a starting berth on Sunday. And with no Pogba and McTominay, the central midfield partnership of Fred and Nemanja Matic ought to continue against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Bruno Fernandes, who played just 45 minutes in the midweek tie, is a certain starter in the No. 10 role while Marcus Rashford should return to the lineup on the left-wing, after featuring as a second-half substitute against Real Sociedad. On the right-wing, with James a doubt, Mason Greenwood becomes a certain starter.

And with Cavani also set to miss out, Anthony Martial should continue to spearhead the Manchester United attack against Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester United Predicted Starting XI: de Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.
