Arsenal have been reportedly told that they can sign long-term transfer target Odsonne Edouard for just £15 million in the summer.

According to a report from the Express, Premier League giants, Arsenal have been informed that they could land French striker Odsonne Edouard from Celtic for a fee of just £15 million in the summer transfer window.

23-year-old Edouard has been with Celtic since 2017, having arrived from French heavyweights PSG. Signed on loan initially, his impressive form saw the Hoops make his transfer permanent the next summer. Ever since, the Frenchman has been a prolific scorer for the Scottish giants, helping them to multiple titles and trophies.

In 157 matches, Edouard has scored 80 goals for Celtic, with 19 of those coming in the ongoing campaign from 29 matches in all competitions. The 23-year-old has been on the radars of a number of top clubs including Arsenal for quite some time now.

And, the Gunners have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of the French striker as he could be available for as little as £15 million in the next summer transfer window. This is because the 23-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract at the end of the campaign and is unlikely to sign renewed terms with Celtic.

This development comes at a time when Arsenal might in need of reinforcements to their attacking unit. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t had the best of the season so far, even though he did score a hat-trick in the win against Leeds United on Sunday.

In addition, Alexandre Lacazette’s future at the club is far from certain, as he too, much like Edouard, is set to enter the final twelve months of his contract and hasn’t been able to make the desired impression this season. With Eddie Nketiah, too, struggling for goals, a new striker could be just what Arsenal need to push on next season.

Edouard, to that end, can be a fine signing, given his prolific record for Celtic even though the step up from the Scottish Premiership to the Premier League might take some adapting. And, the prospect of being able to land him for a fee of just £15 million could be of great appeal as well.

It now remains to be seen if Arsenal decide to act on their long-standing interest in Edouard come the summer transfer window.
