Liverpool are among the clubs that are keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus, who could be available for €40 million.

As per kicker, Florian Neuhaus faces an uncertain future at Borussia Monchengladbach despite his excellent relationship with sporting director Max Eberl. The player himself is valued by the club, but with Marco Rose’s future in doubt amid links with Borussia Dortmund, a move away from Borussia Park could be on the horizon for the youngster.

Borussia Dortmund, in fact, are looking to poach not only Rose but also Neuhaus in the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga giants are notably joined by Liverpool, who have also been linked with another Gladbach midfielder in Denis Zakaria. It is believed that Neuhaus could be available for as low as €40 million despite his long-term contract at the club.

Regarded as one of the most talented up and coming footballers in the Bundesliga, Neuhaus has built quite a reputation for himself under Marco Rose. His tenacity, work ethic and ability to carry the ball make him an ideal number eight, while the fact he can operate as a number ten or even as a number six is indicative of the German’s versatility.

Neuhaus’ impressive performances in the Bundesliga have even earned him three caps for the German national team so far. And it won’t be surprising to see him become a part of the nation’s European Championship squad in the summer.

Liverpool are well aware of the fact that a positive campaign for Neuhaus in this year’s Euro could skyrocket his valuation. Hence, they are keen on securing an early deal with Jurgen Klopp seemingly desperate to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

For the Reds, Neuhaus could be an ideal alternative for Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita, neither of whom have quite lived up to the expectations since joining from the Bundesliga, although it is still early days for the former.

Known for his technical prowess and tenacity, the German international should tune in well with Klopp’s tactical philosophy. His ability to create chances, meanwhile, may even make him an upgrade over someone like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain while providing the depth that could be crucial as Liverpool are now likely to consider Fabinho as a central defender following his impressive performances this season – as covered in our mid-season review for the Merseyside giants.

Premier League 2020/21 mid-season review: Liverpool

Unfortunately, Liverpool are mere outsiders in pursuit of Neuhaus as the Gladbach midfielder is likely to reunite with Rose at Dortmund next season. Alternatively, he could remain at Borussia Park and further hone his skills before sealing an even bigger move to a top club in the summer of 2022. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this young midfield sensation amid interest from Liverpool and others.
