Stan Collymore has urged Liverpool to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in order to resurrect their fortunes.

In his column for Daily Mirror, reigning champions Liverpool need to knock on the doors of Harry Kane in the next summer transfer window to redeem themselves amid a difficult 2020/21 campaign and catch up to Manchester City next term.

The 27-year-old possesses the sheer ability to throttle the opposition on any occasion, and his gruesome decisiveness in front of the goal can not be unnoticed. Over the past seven years, the Englishman has been a brutal force for Tottenham Hotspur and as a result, he has established himself as a supreme arsenal in English soil.

Kane has been one of those captivating figures for Spurs, but the interventions of the other heavyweights could be possible, as those would draw the turnaround of his future destination. Realistically, Kane could be under the radar of the Spanish giants Real Madrid, although he has been advised by former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch to avoid any temptation to join the Spanish heavyweights.

However, as always, it all depends on the player’s intentions, whether he desires to stick to his present destination or impel variation in his professional career. Now, though, Liverpool have been urged by Stan Collymore to launch the offensive on Tottenham to sign Kane.

The former Liverpool star wrote, “If City go out and buy Erling Haaland this summer then Liverpool must buy the next Robert Lewandowski or even put in a bid for Harry Kane. What they can’t do is just say, ‘We have a really good XI, some youngsters coming through, and we can maintain our challenges that way’, because there are too many other teams with the money to make sure that won’t be the case.”

Last weekend, Liverpool’s ignominy of the ongoing season was worsened as they were thoroughly battered by the ruthless Manchester City. With back to back two horrendous results in their league campaign, it is safe to say the Reds need to accept the reality, no matter how splenetic it might seem.

Looking at the circumstances, Kane’s signing could turn out to be a humongous one, as both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are going through fragile patches. Being on the receiving end of this period, Liverpool owners FSG have to be decisive on their approach to snatch the Englishman from Tottenham.

Mohamed Salah has been the only reliable source upfront, with the player seemingly in full tune on his task. However, as suggested by Collymore, Liverpool have to be aware of the fact that to compete against Pep Guardiola & co. the Reds need to plot each of their moves in a subtle manner, and most importantly sign someone of the calibre of Kane to bolster their chances next term.
