Atletico Madrid are reportedly eager to re-sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, who is also a target for Real Madrid and others.

According to a report by Transfer Market Web, Sergio Aguero has emerged on the radar of former club Atletico Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Manchester City striker is also being tailed by Real Madrid among several other European bigwigs.

Sergio Aguero joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, arriving at the club rated as one of the most promising strikers in the world following a fruitful stint in the Spanish capital. Over the past decade or so, the 32-year-old has gone on to cement his legacy at the Premier League club and will go down in history as one of their all-time best.

The all-time top scorer for Manchester City and one of the best strikers of his generation, Aguero has 256 goals and 73 assists in 379 appearances for the Cityzens. However, now that his peak years are behind him, it goes without saying that the Argentine does not have long left at the top. And, to pounce on this situation, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on it.

Real Madrid have had the central striker’s position sorted for quite some time now owing to the exploits of Karim Benzema. However, as is the case with Aguero, age is starting to catch up to the Frenchman as well. So, signing the Manchester City striker as a short-term solution could be a step in the right direction to ease some of the burden off Benzema.

Having said that, Aguero’s history with Atletico Madrid could well complicate matters for Real Madrid, if they do make a move for him. Speaking of, the Colchoneros are also interested in their former striker and are scouring the possibility of bringing him back in the summer, a decade after he joined Manchester City.

Atletico Madrid parted ways with Diego Costa last month, signing Moussa Dembele as his replacement. Dembele, though, is on loan at the club and it is not a given that he will join Los Rojiblancos permanently in the summer. To that end, a move for Aguero could help them cultivate a decent enough short-term solution, especially with Luis Suarez not getting any younger.

Apart from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, the likes of Juventus and PSG are also on his trails, while Barcelona have also been linked with Aguero. With his deal at Manchester City set to run out in the summer, Aguero could well be coveted in the transfer market, and it remains to be seen where he ends up next.
