Liverpool are ready to rival Manchester United and Chelsea in the pursuit of Aston Villa sensation Jack Grealish this summer.

A recent report from 90 Min, has shed some light on the future of Jack Grealish. It appears Aston Villa are determined to keep hold of their star player, and even preparing a bumper contract. Yet, a host of Premier League giants including defending champions Liverpool remain keen on securing his services in the summer.

The Reds, in particular, are relatively new to the chase as the Englishman was primarily linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea. But in the aftermath of their 4-1 demolition at the hands of Manchester City, they too are now keen on adding quality depth in their side, with Grealish being identified as an ideal option.

The Aston Villa star has been one of the best players in the Premier League campaign, having scored six goals and 12 assists. He has offered the creativity in the final third while building a solid partnership alongside the likes of Ross Barkley and Ollie Watkins that has made the Villans one of the surprise packages of the campaign.

While Grealish is indeed a quality chance creator and a problem solver in the final third, what makes him such an appealing target for Liverpool is his versatility.

A left-winger by trade, the 25-year-old can operate on the opposite flank and even as an attacking midfielder if required. He can thus effortlessly fit into Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 that can accommodate three midfielders. He can be operated in that additional midfield slot, following the likely departure of Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer.

Alternatively, Grealish can be an ideal replacement for someone like Mohamed Salah, should Liverpool choose to cash in on the Egyptian international in the summer. The winger has indeed been quite inconsistent this season, so it won’t be surprising to see Reds settling for the Aston Villa star, who offers more prospect for the future, at the age of just 25.

That said, Liverpool are set to face stiff competition from league rivals in the pursuit of Grealish. Chelsea are already looking fund a move for the English international by demanding a staggering £40 million for their on-loan midfielder Ross Barkley. They may have a huge financial backing, thanks to Roman Abramovich, so it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool can prevail in this chase.

Not sure Jack will go if he sees success at Villa in the next couple of years. If Chelsea are interested the I think Tammy, Ross Barker and £50m extra at the very least..
