Barcelona have reportedly set an asking price of €15 million on Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, who is seeking an exit from the club in the summer.

According to a report from Spanish publication MARCA, La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have slapped a price tag of €15 million on second-choice goalkeeper Neto, who is angling towards a summer exit from Camp Nou.

The 31-year-old Brazilian signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from fellow La Liga club Valencia, in a move which saw Jasper Cillessen move the other way. However, since arriving at the Catalan outfit, Neto has had to play second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is the undisputed starter under the woodwork for the Blaugrana.

This has meant that Neto has made just 16 first-team appearances for Barcelona in close to two years, keeping six clean sheets in the process. Eleven of those appearances came in the 2020/21 campaign when ter Stegen was sidelined with a knee injury.

However, once the German returned, Neto has once again had to warm the bench, with his axing in the Supercopa de Espana proving to be the last straw in the player’s eyes.

Following that, Neto asked Barcelona to sanction a transfer during the January window, but manager Ronald Koeman declined, insisting that he needed the goalkeeper in the second half of the campaign.

With ter Stegen starting ahead of Neto in the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Granada, the Brazilian has grown further frustrated at Camp Nou and will make another attempt to leave the club in the summer. Barcelona, for their part, would be open to a sale, and have slapped a price tag of €15 million on the 31-year-old.

Neto still has two years left on his current contract with Barcelona. However, with the player keen on an exit and the club’s dire financial state could lead to a compromise being reached in the summer transfer window.

Any move, however, would depend on the Catalan club’s new director of football, with the boardroom situation at Barcelona still quite unclear with the presidential elections set to take place in the near future. As things stand, though, the Blaugrana are willing to sell Neto if any club meets their €15 million valuation.
