Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon is reportedly willing to seal his return to Real Madrid in a €40 million deal.

According to Spanish outlet OK Diario, as relayed by Daily Express, Sergio Reguilon is delighted by the prospect of returning to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions have the option of re-signing the Spanish international from Tottenham by triggering a €40 million buyback clause.

Reguilon joined Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid last summer following an impressive loan spell at Sevilla. The Spaniard has been an instant hit at the north London club, having taken no time to establish himself as the first-choice left-back in Jose Mourinho’s side.

Reguilon has turned out 20 times for Tottenham this season, with 5 assists to show for his efforts in those outings. His impressive displays have piqued the interest of former club Real Madrid, who could be set to launch the offensive for him in the summer transfer window, just one year after selling him to Spurs.

Real Madrid have indeed been reported to be in the market for a left-back, with Marcelo reaching the end of the line at the club. The veteran Brazilian full-back has declined sharply in the past year or so and is now a peripheral figure in Zinedine Zidane’s squad, with Frenchman Ferland Mendy the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.

Marcelo is now being touted to be on the transfer list for the upcoming summer transfer window and it is no wonder that Real Madrid are scouring for possible options to replace the 32-year-old. To that end, Nuno Mendes has been mentioned as a possible target for Real Madrid.

However, Reguilon occupies Real Madrid’s fancy as well, considering Los Blancos simply need to trigger his €40 million buyback clause to re-sign him, provided the Spanish international is open to returning to the club. And now, Real Madrid have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the young full-back.

As per OK Diario (h/t Daily Express), Reguilon is ready to seal his return to Real Madrid and has no qualms battling Mendy for the first-choice left-back berth. Despite being a regular under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, the player is ready to take the risk of rejoining his former club as he eyes long-term success in the Spanish capital. What now remains to be seen is a €40 million return does come to fruition.
