Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs that are tracking the progress of Aston Villa prodigy Carney Chukwuemeka
According to a report by The Times, Carney Chukwuemeka is attracting interest from a host of top clubs across Europe. Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Liverpool are closely following the development of the 17-year-old Aston Villa attacking midfielder, with the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich also interested.
Chukwuemeka joined Aston Villa from Northampton Town in 2016 and has since made massive strides within the club’s youth setup and at present, the under-23 side. In fact, such has been his impact till date at Villa that he is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects within England currently.
The 17-year-old has even been involved with first-team training for nearly a year now and is touted to have a bright future at Aston Villa after signing a professional contract with them in October. Chukwuemeka’s progress, though, has alerted a number of big-name clubs around Europe, chief among them being Manchester United and Liverpool.
Manchester United have always been on the lookout for the brightest talent in England and beyond, which has seen them sign the likes of Marc Jurado, Charlie McNeill and Willy Kambwala, among others in recent months, with Brazilian prodigy Gabriel Veron also heavily linked with them.
Adding to the list of talented youngsters making their way to the club could be Chukwuemeka, whose status of being one of the most promising young attackers in England would certainly have attracted Manchester United. However, the Red Devils face stiff competition from Liverpool in the 17-year-old’s pursuit.
Liverpool, like Manchester United, have been renowned to scour the length and breadth of the country to sign the most prodigious of young players. That has seen them land the likes of Harvey Elliott, Sepp van den Berg and others in recent years, with a move for Kaide Gordon, who is also a target for Manchester United, set to be completed as per reports.
Manchester United and Liverpool, though, will face stiff competition from Juventus and Bayern Munich in pursuit of Chukwuemeka, while Manchester City have aggressively scouted him for a long time. The 17-year-old, though, might just stick around at Aston Villa, as quickly sealing a pathway to first-team football is currently on his agenda. One thing that is certain, though, is that Chukwuemeka’s star will only rise.
