Barcelona are reportedly considering a Bosman move for Juan Bernat, who is in the final months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

As reported by Le 10 Sport, Barcelona are weighing up another cost-effective move for the summer transfer window. Juan Bernat has popped up on the radar of the Catalan heavyweights, who have set their sights on the Spanish international and his situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

Bernat joined PSG from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2018, arriving at the club following a trophy-laden stint with the Bundesliga giants. At Parc des Princes, the 27-year-old has continued his upward trajectory, having been a mainstay at the back for the French champions.

Having made 76 appearances for Les Parisiens, Bernat has chipped in with 6 goals and 10 assists. The ongoing campaign, though, has been hampered by a long-term injury, restricting him to just three outings till date. His progress has been duly noted by Barcelona, who are keeping tabs on his contract situation at PSG, having entered the final six months of his contract.

Barcelona’s financial troubles have been well-documented by now and as a result, they are focusing on cost-effective deals for the time being. The likes of Eric Garcia, Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay have all been linked with such moves and with the left-back slot emerging as a priority, another economical option has popped up.

Junior Firpo has failed to win over a third Barcelona manager since arriving from Real Betis and is rumoured to be on the exit trail at Camp Nou, although a January exit has reportedly been ruled out. Whenever Firpo does leave, Barcelona will need to delve into the transfer market for a left-back.

With Jordi Alba also entering the final phase of his career, it is even more imperative to identify a long-term solution for the position, with Angelino among the players considered for a move. Now, though, Bernat is also being viewed as a possible option for Barcelona.

With the former Bayern Munich defender in the final few months of his current deal with PSG, he fits the kind of profile Barcelona have been targeting lately. A Bosman move could, therefore, be in the offing, and it remains to be seen if Barcelona do end up launching the offensive for the 27-year-old in the summer.
