Aston Villa have reportedly entered the race to sign Bournemouth forward David Brooks, who is also courted by Manchester United.

According to  Alex Crook from talkSPORT, as relayed by The Sun, Aston Villa are mulling over a move for David Brooks. It appears the Villans are ready to rival Manchester United in pursuit of the Bournemouth attacker as Dean Smith looks to further bolster his offensive unit following an excellent first half of the campaign.

The transfer speculation surrounding Brooks is hardly surprising either as the youngster has shone in the Championship this season. His three goals and five assists have helped Bournemouth emerge as one of the favourites to gain promotion, shortly after the unfortunate relegation from the Premier League last season.

Although the Cherries consider Brooks to be a valued part of their setup, a move to the Premier League could be tempting for the young attacker. Manchester United, in particular, have raised a lot of eyebrows with their performances and they have now emerged as one of the shock favourites for the Premier League title.

It should be an exciting proposition for Brooks, who could potentially become a star at Old Trafford considering their lack of quality depth in the wide attacking department. Daniel James, in particular, has produced underwhelming performances after a promising start while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer simply needs to find a more quality alternative for Mason Greenwood.

Brooks, in that regard, could be an ideal target. The Bournemouth striker, much like Marcus Rashford, can operate in multiple positions in the final third, including the false nine role. It would make him not only an alternative to Greenwood at right flank, where Amad Diallo could soon be an option too, but also a backup for Anthony Martial in a more central role.

However, Manchester United should be wary of Aston Villa’s interest. The Birmingham outfit has emerged as one of the success stories in the Premier League this season, often clashing with the top dogs of English football with their impressive performances throughout the course of the campaign.

Although the Villans may not provide the pride of playing at Old Trafford nor the financial incentive, they could surely offer Brooks an opportunity to gain regular minutes in the Premier League. His potential partnership with the likes of Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins could make Villa even more deadly going forward, so it will be interesting to see whether or not he remains at Dean Court this season.
