Released Manchester United youngster Dion McGhee is reportedly set to join Portuguese side Braga.

According to the report by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United academy graduate Dion McGhee is set for his second innings. The 20-year-old was released by The Red Devils in the summer and is now set to join Portuguese side Braga to kickstart his career with a fresh move.
Dion McGhee was recognized as one of the more promising youngsters in the Red Devils’ academy. The Englishman made impetuous development in the youth set up. The Oldham-born player possesses the ability to play in a number of positions including full-back, winger, and also as a striker.
20-year-old McGhee has been an impressive feature for Red Devils Youth Academy since the age of six. Having come through the ranks, the midfielder made his debut for the club’s U-18 team back in 2017.
McGhee’s contract with Manchester United ran out on 30th June, and the club decided not to extend his agreement. After being released by United last summer, McGhee spent time on trial with Newcastle United. But he departed at the end of November without a contract.

The Englishman has been without a club since being released by United in the summer, but his efficiency did manage to allure some heavyweights around Europe. The likes of Rangers, West Ham, and AZ Alkmaar, as well as clubs in Spain and Germany, had been monitoring the players’ progression for quite a while.
McGhee was on a nine-man United released list in June, alongside Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Demetri Mitchell, Ethan Hamilton, George Tanner, Aidan Barlow, Kieran O’Hara, Alex Fojticek, and Largie Ramazani. United only released players aged 19 or older, keeping younger stars to protect them from the uncertainties created by the pandemic.
McGhee told the Manchester Evening News: “My future plans are that as soon as I can go ahead and sign that’s what I’m going to do. There has been a lot of interest abroad, in Spain, Germany, and Portugal and I’m really excited to share what’s coming up.”
The terms have been agreed with the Portuguese club, Braga, and McGhee is quite understandably excited about his new venture in Portugal. He will play under former Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal and desires to get regular football, something he wasn’t able to get in the Manchester United first team before his departure
