Real Madrid have reportedly identified Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah as a top transfer target for the summer window.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante on Twitter, La Liga champions Real Madrid are strongly interested in a move for Premier League title holders Chelsea and are plotting a summer move for the Egyptian.

The 28-year-old has grown into one of the most feared attackers in the game since he arrived at Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017. In 175 appearances for the Merseysiders, Salah has already plundered 110 goals and registered 45 assists as well, helping them to the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League triumphs.

Along the way, the former Chelsea speedster has won two Premier League Golden Boots and is in contention for another one this season. Indeed, Salah has bagged 13 goals in 15 league games in 2020/21 and is sitting at the top of the goalscoring charts in the competition.

The Egyptian international sparked a flurry of speculations last month when he refused to rule out a transfer to Spain in the future. And, it seems like Real Madrid have now made him a top transfer target for the summer window later this year, according to Angelo Mangiante.

Real Madrid had a quiet summer last time out due to finances being tight owing to the effect of the pandemic coupled with the renovation costs of the Santiago Bernabeu. In spite of that, Zinedine Zidane’ side are currently second in the La Liga table, two points shy of leaders Atletico Madrid.

However, given their overreliance on Karim Benzema for goals, the Merengues need to bring in another elite goalscorer in the summer, if they are to dominate the European footballing scenes in the years to come. More so, considering that the Frenchman is into his thirties while Eden Hazard continues to be bogged down by injury issues.

Furthermore, Lucas Vazquez is also out of contract at the end of the season, meaning there could be a vacancy in the Real Madrid attacking department ahead of the next season. Salah, given his proven pedigree at the highest level and the form that he has been over the years, could be the ideal Galactico signing for Real Madrid.

However, it has been claimed in the recent past that Los Blancos will be prioritising a summer move for long-term target Kylian Mbappe. So, it will be interesting to see if Zidane opts to make a move for his compatriot or plots a raid on Liverpool for Salah come summer.
