Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Son Heung-min and are set to approach Tottenham over a possible move for the South Korean superstar.

According to reputed Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Son Heung-min has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid over a possible move in the future. The Spanish heavyweights are set to lodge an enquiry with Tottenham Hotspur to seek more information about the availability of the 28-year-old South Korean international.

Son Heung-min joined Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 and has since grown in stature exponentially. Now regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League, the South Korean international is one of the first names on the team sheet for former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.

Since joining Tottenham, Son has amassed over 250 appearances and notched up his 100th goal for the club this weekend against Leeds United. In addition, he has also provided 55 assists and it goes without saying that he is a pivotal player for Spurs. His progress has invariably caught the eye of one of the biggest clubs in the world, with Real Madrid turning their attention towards him.

Real Madrid have not really been rumoured to be in the market for many attacking players, with Kylian Mbappe, who continues to be heavily linked with the Spanish giants, reportedly being their priority. However, the cost of the operation to land Mbappe might be astronomical and it is unclear if Los Blancos have the financial muscle to secure his services amid the effects of COVID-19.

As a result, Son could well be a viable alternative for Real Madrid, although Ekrem Konur does not mention a price tag for the Tottenham superstar. Nevertheless, it looks like Zinedine Zidane has his sights set on the 28-year-old, having monitored his progress closely.

Real Madrid are also set to follow up on Zidane’s interest in the player with an approach in order to ask Tottenham over the player’s availability. What now remains to be seen is if the reigning La Liga champions do end up launching the offensive for Son anytime soon.

If not, someone like Christopher Nkunku, who can play equally adeptly through the middle as he can on the wings, could be an economical alternative. For now, though, it looks like Son features on the radar of Real Madrid and it will be interesting to see if a future move to the Spanish capital awaits the Tottenham forward.
