Manchester City are reportedly scouring the prospect of signing Harry Kane, with a €100 million bid for the Tottenham striker in the works.

According to reputed German journalist Christian Falk, Harry Kane is the subject of interest from Manchester City over a possible move in the future. The Premier League heavyweights are looking to engineer an offer worth €100 million for the Tottenham striker, which would break their transfer record.

Harry Kane joined the Tottenham academy in 2004 and was impressive for the club’s youth sides before going on to break into the first-team setup in 2009. However, it was not until 2014/15 that he finally managed to enjoy a breakthrough campaign with Spurs, having been hauled out on loan four times before the onset of the season.

Since then, he has gone on to cement his place in Tottenham’s history while also becoming the England captain. His record for the north Londoners is quite impressive to say the least, with 204 goals and 43 assists in 310 appearances. His status as one of the best strikers in the game has been established for years now and that has seen him being linked with a number of European bigwigs, including Manchester City.

The latest rumour has seen Kane being linked with Manchester City once again, with Christian Falk claiming that the 27-year-old is on the radar of the former Premier League champions. However, this is not the first time that the Citizens have been linked with Kane. The interest in the Tottenham striker does make sense, though.

Sergio Aguero seems to be on his last legs as a Manchester City player, with injuries starting to pile up. With the Argentine striker now in his thirties, it is clear that he is closer to the end of his career than his peak years. And, with Gabriel Jesus blowing hot and cold over the course of his stint with City, it is not hard to see why Pep Guardiola wants to invest in a striker.

Manchester City have also been linked with Erling Haaland, who is unsurprisingly a target for the who’s who of European football. Kane falls in a similar category and the fact that he is well versed with the demands of English football means that he might not take long to settle in at the Etihad, if he swaps Tottenham for Manchester City.

Having said that, it is unlikely that Tottenham will allow Kane to join their Premier League rivals, even though as per Falk, Manchester City are set to test their resolve with a €100 million bid. While the amount is significant and will shatter the Citizens’ transfer record, the fact that Kane is arguably their single-most influential figure means Spurs will resist any discussions over a move.

Having said that, it remains to be seen if Manchester City do lodge an offer to secure the services of the England captain. For now, though, Kane, who has fans and pundits alike raving over him, seems to be a target for Manchester City and it remains to be seen if he ends up leaving Tottenham for a switch to the Etihad.
