Edinson Cavani should come in for Marcus Rashford while Paul Pogba is also set to return when Manchester United face Wolves on Tuesday.

Manchester United will have the chance to move to the second spot on the Premier League table when they play hosts to Wolves at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. And, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a couple of minor issues to contend with ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

While Aaron Wan-Bissaka has trained with the rest of the squad and will be in contention to start, the Manchester United manager is sweating over the fitness of key duo Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford ahead of the visit of Wolves.

Lindelof has been dealing with a chronic back problem, while Rashford is struggling with an issue with his shoulder. Speaking to the club’s media, Solskjaer did provide an update on Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka, but there was none on Rashford.

The Manchester United manager said, “Victor didn’t train this morning [Monday] so we’ll give him 24 hours. He’s still getting treatment. Aaron trained with the boys. We didn’t do a lot because there was snow and it was just about preparation training anyway. If there’s no reaction he should be available.”

With the turnover between games being quite short in this busy festive period, it will be prudent for Solskjaer to give Lindelof some more time to recuperate. As a result, Eric Bailly should partner captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence.

The fact that the games are coming thick and fast should also mean that Luke Shaw will be preserved, with Alex Telles starting in his stead as the left-back against Wolves. On the right flank, Wan-Bissaka should return, while David de Gea will take his place in goal again.

Up ahead in midfield, a new-look double pivot should see Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic return, with Fred and Scott McTominay making way to get some breather. Matic will reprise the holding midfield role while Pogba will look to dictate play from deeper positions on the pitch.Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes, who has recently iterated his desire to win every trophy on offer with Manchester United, is a certainty in the hole, but the men around him should be shuffled a bit. The aforementioned shoulder issue could force Rashford to miss a spot in the starting lineup.

In Rashford’s place, Edinson Cavani ought to start, meaning Anthony Martial will move to the left-wing, with Cavani leading the line for Manchester United against Wolves. On the right flank, Mason Greenwood should come in for Daniel James, who is also dealing with a knock.

Manchester United Predicted XI: de Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Telles; Pogba, Matic; Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Martial; Cavani
