Bayern Munich are ready to offer Jamal Musiala with a bumper contract extension in an attempt to fend off interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Following Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala is earmarked to become the next big English talent in the Bundesliga. As per Daily Mail, the Bayern Munich star has already attracted the interest of Premier League giants like Manchester United and Liverpool, following a promising start to the 2020/21 campaign.

However, the Bavarians are determined to keep hold of their young playmaker by offering him a lucrative contract extension. Musiala, whose contract in 2022, is set to be rewarded with a new deal worth in excess of £100,000 a week, with Hansi Flick’s side hoping that he would remain at Allianz Arena despite the opportunity to return to England.

Born in Stuttgart, Musiala was previous a member of the Chelsea as well as the Southampton youth academy before he moved to FC Bayern U17 in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has enjoyed a rapid rise in stock, notably making 13 competitive appearances for the senior side this season.

Especially in recent weeks, the 17-year-old has emerged as Flick’s desired midfield partner for Leon Goretzka as Joshua Kimmich remains on the sidelines. And the youngster hasn’t disappointed either, notably starring in the 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig and scoring a total of three goals in just eight Bundesliga matches, which is surprisingly more than what Sancho managed so far.

Manchester United and Liverpool’s interest in Musiala, therefore, is hardly a surprise. The former, in particular, are already scouring the market for a new playmaker in their team and have recently been linked with a shock move for former Tottenham Hotspur superstar Christian Eriksen in the upcoming January transfer window.

As for Liverpool, they too could welcome the arrival of the young, talented attacker who can not only provide versatility but also offer competition for the more established stars like Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. It can be argued, however, that Bundesliga might yet be the ideal destination for Musiala if he is to continue his progress at the highest level of football.

Bayern’s eagerness to tie him down to a new contract already speaks volumes of the trust they have on young Musiala, who also should have no complaints about the game-time he has been given this season. Hence, the 17-year-old has very little reason to the leave the Bundesliga and Bayern’s supposed contract extensional deal will only but solidify that stance.
