Barcelona could be in for a move to sign Erling Haaland next summer, with several of their presidential candidates having set their eyes on a €75 million transfer.

According to Catalan outlet Esport3, Barcelona might be set to launch the offensive for Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window, despite their financial troubles. Many of their presidential candidates are set to prioritise a move for the Borussia Dortmund striker, who has a €75 million release clause.

Erling Haaland has become one of the hottest properties in world football since enjoying a stunning 2019/20 breakthrough campaign. After plundering goals for fun at Red Bull Salzburg, the whizkid earned a move to Borussia Dortmund earlier this year in January and has not looked back since.

So far in the famous yellow of Dortmund, Haaland has an astonishing tally of 33 goals and 6 assists in just 32 games, having not slowed down one bit since making the switch to Signal Iduna Park. His steep progress, though, has constantly piqued the interest of the who’s who of European football, with Barcelona one of many having their sights set on him.

The Blaugrana saw Luis Suarez end his glittering spell at the club this past summer to join Atletico Madrid. However, Barcelona failed to replace Suarez with a like-for-like replacement in their squad, leaving Martin Braithwaite as the only natural striker while Antoine Griezmann can lead the line as well.

As a result, Barcelona have been reported to be in the market for a striker, keeping the summer transfer window in mind. To that end, the Catalan giants have been linked with a few strikers, with Darwin Nunez one of their top targets. However, with Real Madrid also in his pursuit, Barcelona do need to keep their options open.

To that end, Haaland is a viable albeit pricier target for Barcelona. That the Norwegian striker has a release clause worth €75 million in his Dortmund contract has only made him a more alluring prospect for possible suitors. In fact, many of the presidential hopefuls are making Haaland the face of their projects and could sanction a big move in the summer.

While Barcelona are struggling financially as things stand, the aforementioned candidates are ready to meet his €75 million valuation. So, having previously strayed clear of a move for Haaland, it now looks like Barcelona could well be in the running for him next summer and it will be interesting to see if Dortmund can keep hold of their prized asset.

  1. Our former president was a crook who didn’t sign direct replacements but often doubled amount for clueless/unknown players. A big cheat that’s be hunting our lovely club-#fcbarc

  2. Haarling begged fc barca to sign him on loan for a trial but they (previous bad Board) refused to his plea! Laporta will be the best President who can sign him if elected due to his close relationship with the super agent, Mino Raola

  3. Imre Ford says:

Barcelona should be able to get him. Sell Coutinho and Griesman. The biggest problem is the stupidity of the interim board to have the election on January 24th instead of November or December which would’ve enabled the new board to make a plan. Now the possibility is some other club may take the opportunity and get him.

Yes, sell coutinho, griezman, that’s it, all what they can offer to barca, also can players like alena, puig, or pedri

  5. Franklin says:

Haaland is a natural striker and its a good idea to sign him

  6. OLANIYAN says:

He will be a good signing but the deal will be easier if LAPORTA win the election

  7. NANA K says:

I WOULD GIVE THEM THE GREENLIGHT#GO BARCA

  8. Kelvin says:

I think he will be a good signing if only we can get him as soon as possible

  9. bright says:
