Liverpool are ready to offload Divock Origi in the January transfer window while they are also unlikely to make a move for defensive target Perr Schuurs.

According to a report from Tribal Football, Divock Origi’s days at Anfield could be numbered as the club prepares to offload him in the upcoming January transfer window. The striker has struggled with a lack of game-time so it appears he could join Club Brugge, albeit on a short-term loan deal.

Brugge’s interest in Origi comes just days after their star striker Emmanuel Dennis was omitted from the club’s team sheet against Borussia Dortmund following a bizarre incident in the bus. Although the Nigerian forward has returned to the squad, his future in Bruges remains a doubt, with Origi being identified as an ideal replacement.

The Liverpool attacker hasn’t played professionally in his native Belgium but was a member of the KRC Genk youth academy before he moved to LOSC Lille in 2010. He has since racked up a lot of experience at the highest level of football, notably making 145 competitive appearances for Liverpool, helping the Reds secure the Champions League as well as the Premier League in recent years.

Unfortunately, Origi’s future at Anfield looks bleak as Jurgen Klopp prepares to add more quality into his side. The recent emergence of Diogo Jota, who has been praised by Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, has already made life difficult for the Belgian so it is only a matter of time before he waves goodbye to the Kop.

With Origi’s departure pretty much on the cards, it appears Liverpool are going to have a busy transfer window in January, especially as they look to find a reliable alternative to the injured Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking of van Dijk, the Dutchman picked up a horrific ACL injury in the Merseyside derby earlier in the campaign, ruling him out on the sidelines for a long period of time. It has forced the Reds to scour the market for a viable alternative, especially due to the fitness problems faced by other options including Joel Matip and Fabinho.

Perr Schuurs has been among the players reportedly scouted by Liverpool this season due to a breakout campaign that has seen the youngster become a vital cog in the Ajax backline alongside Daley Blind and Lisandro Martinez.

However, a recent report from Voetbal Primeur suggests that Liverpool are yet to register a concrete interest in Schuurs, who is valued around €30 million by Ajax. It also appears unlikely that the Merseyside giants would want to make a move for the youngster, especially in January. It does make sense to an extent given the risk involved in investing such huge money on a young player.

While Schuurs is undoubtedly one of the most exciting defensive talents in Eredivisie right now, he does not fit Liverpool’s criteria, as the Reds are mainly looking for an experienced operator who can instantly settle into the Premier League and provide a viable alternative for the injured van Dijk. It will now be interesting to see who Liverpool now turn their attention towards.
