AC Milan’s rising star Ismael Bennacer could become a hot prospect in the market next summer, with Manchester City and Real Madrid interested in his services.

According to Calciomercato, Real Madrid and Manchester City are two of the three big clubs monitoring the progress of Ismael Bennacer. The AC Milan has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence and his future at the San Siro could come under the microscope next summer, which his reported €50 million release clause can be activated.

Pep Guardiola, in particular, is believed to be a huge admirer of Bennacer, who was a member of the Arsenal reserve team before leaving north London in 2017. Although Milan would find it difficult to keep hold of his services should big clubs come for him next summer, it appears unlikely that the club bosses will be willing to budge from the player’s €50 million.

It won’t be a surprise at all if we consider the tremendous strides Bennacer has made, under the leadership of Stefano Pioli. At Milan, he has built a formidable midfield partnership alongside Franck Kessie. It has proved to be crucial in helping the Rossoneri enjoy a fantastic start to the campaign that see them lead Serie A table, ahead of Juventus and Inter Milan.

Bennacer has particularly impressed the onlookers with his remarkable tenacity and aggression. As a result, he has attained excellent numbers when it comes to ball recoveries. The Algerian international is also capable of reading the game, making it easier for him to prevent the opposition from creating a quick sequence of passes in midfield.

However, what makes the AC Milan star such a sought-after midfielder in Serie A is his ability to find useful passes in the final third. The 22-year-old is more than capable of delivering a defence-threading through balls while he can also switch the play or provide long diagonal passes that are usually hard to intercept.

It makes Bennacer an ideal fit for Manchester City, who are lacking a little bit of depth in midfield, especially with Fernandinho nearing the final phase of his career. Even Real Madrid require a long-term alternative for the ageing Luka Modric and Toni Kroos – making the Algerian a viable option for Zinedine Zidane.

Having said that, getting their hands on Bennacer could be a real challenge for these two as the AC Milan midfielder is also courted by another European giant in Paris Saint-Germain. So it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape in the summer.
