Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea on a loan deal in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Emerson Palmieri is the subject of interest from Juventus once again. The Italian giants are lining up a loan move for the 26-year-old, who is eager to seal a return to the Serie A, after falling down the pecking order at Chelsea.

Emerson Palimieri joined Chelsea from AS Roma in January 2018 and has since played under three different managers at the club. However, as the Italian international nears three years at Stamford Bridge, he has very little to show for his efforts, having struggled to nail down a regular spot in the first-team setup.

His best run came under Maurizio Sarri and since the arrival of Frank Lampard, the 26-year-old has had to suffice with sharing game-time. Things have gone from bad to worse with the signing of Ben Chilwell, whose move to Chelsea has relegated both Marcos Alonso and Emerson to being bit-part figures and both the players have since been linked with a move away from the club.

Juventus were among those who were heavily linked with a possible summer move for Emerson, only for the Bianconeri to fail to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a loan deal. The interest in the full-back, though, has not disappeared despite his fading role at the west London club.

Napoli have already emerged in pursuit of Emerson over the possibility of a January move and now, Juventus have reignited their interest in the Italian international. The report suggests that the Serie A champions still want to sign the Chelsea outcast on a loan deal, especially with the left side of the defence presenting issues.

While Alex Sandro is set to be the preferred choice on the left flank, Pirlo has grown disillusioned with Danilo following a poor display against Lazio this past weekend. The likes of Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi have been used as left wing-backs, but the Juventus boss would favour a natural, which explains the interest in Emerson.

Emerson has revelled as a left wing-back, but is also a decent outlet as a left-back, meaning he could be a viable option for Pirlo. And, the player himself is eager to seal a return to Serie A, where he is unlikely to take long to settle down. All that now remains is for Chelsea to agree terms with Juventus.

Calciomercato claim that the deal proposed would give Juventus the right to sign him in next summer’s transfer window. It now remains to be seen if Emerson returns to play Serie A football in the January transfer window to end his frustrations at Chelsea.
