Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Amad Traore, whose deal to join Parma has fallen through.

According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are poised to secure the services of Amad Traore before Monday’s transfer deadline. The Red Devils are in advanced talks with Atalanta to sign the 18-year-old winger, whose proposed move to Parma has collapsed.

Amad Traore joined the Atalanta youth setup in 2015 after leaving his homeland while still midway through his youth footballing career. The teenage prodigy, rated quite highly in the Italian club’s academy, made rapid progress before breaking into La Dea’s first-team setup last season.

The 18-year-old managed just 24 minutes of first-team action, but in the short time he spent on the pitch, he became the youngest player in history to score on his Serie A debut. In all competitions last term, he had a solid tally of 8 goals and 11 assists in 27 outings. Traore’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Manchester United and Arsenal among the big name clubs tracking him.

In recent weeks, though, it was mooted that the Ivorian winger would be on his way to Parma, where he was primed to replace Dejan Kulusevski. However, the deal collapsed in the eleventh hour and it now seems like Traore is set to make his way to Manchester United instead.

As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in advanced talks with Atalanta over the prospect of signing Traore before Monday’s deadline on a permanent deal. However, if a move does not go through before the transfer window slams shut, it could be pushed till January. Gianluca Di Marzio, though, has suggested that the youngster is set to join Manchester United.

All through the summer, Manchester United’s major transfer talking point has centered around one Jadon Sancho. For the longest time, the Red Devils have been unable to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over a transfer fee, with the German giants not budging from their valuation.

The impasse has forced Manchester United to consider alternatives, with Ousmane Dembele also emerging on their radar. However, the Barcelona forward is not expected to make his way to Old Trafford either and it now looks like the Premier League heavyweights have turned their attention towards Traore.

While not a readymade product just yet, Traore is rated highly, is adept at playing with both feet and fits in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mould. And so, even though the Sancho pursuit has failed quite remarkably, it seems like Manchester United will be bolstering their right wing options after all. It will be interesting to see if Traore is the long-term solution for the Red Devils.
