Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci has emerged as a subject of interest for Premier League newcomers Leeds United late in the transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Leeds United are plotting a late swoop on Premier League champions Liverpool for the signing of young full-back Yasser Larouci.

The 19-year-old Larouci joined the Liverpool youth setup in 2017 from French outfit Le Havre. However, unlike fellow youngsters Neco Williams and Curtis Jones, the left-back has found it hard to break into the first-team so far. He made his debut for the Reds in last season’s FA Cup against Everton and featured just once more in the same competition.

With Andrew Robertson being the undisputed first-choice at left-back and Liverpool also signing Kostas Tsimikas this summer, Larouci is now keen on securing an exit in order to secure regular first-team football action.

Larouci’s situation has piqued the interest of Leeds United. The Whites have been using Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski as makeshift left-backs. Barry Douglas is the only natural left-sided full-back in the squad, but the Scotsman is on his way out of the club, with Watford emerging as his next destination.

So, Marcelo Bielsa is keen on bolstering his defensive ranks before the transfer window closes on Monday night and has identified Larouci as a potential target.

The report states that Leeds are likely to face a lot of competition in the race for the teenager, with a number of clubs from within England and abroad eyeing a swoop for the youngster. However, the Reds would favour him moving to a club in England.

With the transfer deadline looming large, a number of fringe players could be seen making their way out of Liverpool along with Larouci. Winger Harry Wilson has been a subject of a £12 million bid from Burnley, which the Premier League champions have knocked back. Ben Woodburn is another player who could be headed out, albeit on loan.

As far as Larouci is concerned, an exit looks set in stone, considering that has just one year left on his current contract with Liverpool. However, it remains to be seen if Leeds are successful in their efforts to land the 19-year-old.
