Aston Villa have targeted Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster, who could be prised away from Anfield for a fee of just £20 million this summer.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa are exploring the idea of signing Rhian Brewster. Their manager Dean Smith is desperate to sign a new striker this summer following a disappointing debut campaign for last summer’s marquee signing, Wesley.

Villa have already failed in their pursuit of top target Callum Wilson, who is set for a move to Newcastle United. The likes of Odsonne Edouard and Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham are also unlikely to move to Villa Park, thus forcing the club to look elsewhere.

As a result, the Villans have now set their sights on Brewster. The Liverpool youngster is believed to have no future at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp could offload all the fringe players in favour of new signings. In fact, the young prodigy could be available for as little as £20 million.

Brewster’s potential departure from Anfield could appear as shocking to some Liverpool fans given the fact that he is coming on the back of a productive loan spell at Swansea City. He scored ten goals in 20 matches in the Championship, helping the Swans to the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the 20-year-old has been unlucky at Liverpool with his lack of chances. His penalty miss that cost the Reds the FA Community Shield recently didn’t help either.

Aston Villa, however, could offer the youngster a lifeline and a chance to prove himself at the highest level of football. As mentioned earlier, Smith should welcome the addition of a new striker this summer, in spite of having reportedly agreed a deal for Ollie Watkins. And Brewster, in that regard, could be an ideal option.

The Liverpool prodigy can be considered as an ideal alternative to the likes of Wesley and Mbwana Samatta. His pace, dynamism and aggression might even make him a better fit under Smith’s tactical setup, especially with creative players like Trezeguet, Jack Grealish and Anwar El Ghazi providing the supply in the final third.

As for Liverpool, offloading Brewster on a permanent basis could be a shrewd move by Klopp. The youngster has obvious talent and could even emerge as an option to replace Roberto Firmino in the future. Hence, the Reds should at least try to include a buy-back clause in the contract, should Aston Villa manage to sign the player this summer.

In the meantime, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Brazilian goalkeeping prodigy Marcelo Pitaluga. The 17-year-old, boasting huge potential, could be an interesting addition to the club.
